Granite is a natural product that was formed a billion years ago when the Earth cooled from its molten state. As a result it is one of the most durable materials known to man and will last forever if treated right. Quarried from all over the world, granite offers a unique beautiful look and comes in a variety of design and colors.
Why Granite?
Through modern technology the fabrication of granite countertops have become relatively accessible in the home in recent years. As a result, granite countertops have increased in popularity representing the hottest trend in home design.
No other investment in your home décor will increase the value and character of your home as much as a granite countertop. No other countertop option can provide the distinctive and personality that granite provides.
Quarry to Your Home
Granite stones are cut in large blocks, which are further cut into slabs, which are the raw materials for countertops. Slabs are approximately 55 square feet and from 2 to 3 centimeters thick. The slabs are then polished on one side and then packaged for container transport. The granite is then fabricated locally so that it can be installed in your home.
Types of Granite
Granite stones vary in hardness and design. Granite stones are rated in levels that go from 1 to 5 with 5 being the hardest to source. Although there are exceptions, the darker and more shiny or speckled stones are more expensive. The lighter colors are less expensive and are susceptible to water staining.
